We will make pompons, practice a cheer and steps and go outside to perform.

What are we doing tonight?
Marie Vermeiren (BE, 2002, 7 min)
The films follows a group of women through the night while they undertake actions against the sexist advertisings. The documentary focuses on transmitting the energy that these women can develop: physical, creative or sensual.

Hartes Brod (Sticky Dough)
Nathalie Percillier (Germany, 2000, 8 min, english subtitles)
The bread-factory’s up and running. The girls are going strong. Production’s right on target. But here comes Ute...
„A subtle, funny, bread-breaking story, almost like a fairy tale, told in a rhythmic way, with stunning camera work an lovely music.“ (Jury of the Panorama Shortfilmaward)

Some Real Heat Stephanie Jordan (54min)
A documentary about six female firefighters in San Francisco, about “chainsaw-mamas, good axe-moments, passion- and compassion-issues“ and about the myth and reality of a dangerous profession.
“San Francisco’s female firefighters tell their stories in this documentary by Stefanie Jordan. Strong both in body and in mind, the women candidly talk about the experiences that inspire them - and break their hearts.
Jordan skilfully weaves in facts (San Francisco, for example, has the highest percentage of women firefighters in the world) with the personal narratives, culminating in a riveting documentary for anyone who’s ever wanted to wear a firewoman’s hat for a day.“ (Inside Pride 2002 magazine, San Francisco) Personal copies of the film are available through Stefanie Jordan:

Out: The Making Of A Revolutionary
Sonja de Vries & Rhonda Collins. (USA, 2000, 60 min).
In 1985, activist Laura Whitehorn was convicted of bombing the US Capitol building and "conspiring to influence, change and protest policies and practices of the United States government through violent and illegal means."
OUT chronicles the life of this courageous woman, who grew up in a liberal Jewish household, became involved with radical left politics in the tumultuous years of the 1960's and was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 1985.
Whitehorn has seen the twentieth century evolve, while the injustices surrounding class, race and gender remain the same. OUT is a compelling portrait of a modern American radical.
Whether you agree or disagree with radical left politics, this documentary challenges you to think about what you might be willing to risk for your own beliefs.

Omdat ik het ben
Janneke Raaphorst (NL, 2003, 10 min)
A camper girl invites us for a cup of tea. By reading from her diary she explains her identity crisis. It turns out not to be such a big problem at all, thanks to Johnny Logans eurovision songfestival winning song and her post-modern friend in the garden.
Kim Plays Back
Anne Smolar (BE, 2002, 7 min, french language with english subtitles)
‘Kim Plays Back’ is a feminist rereading and parody of the typical macho TV sitcom. Smolar works with the framing of women in representation systems, and notably in the media.
It’s fascinating how a sexist plot can be turned inside out… Like on LP’s there seems to be a hidden message when you play them backwards. That is what Smolar does with an episode of the famous TV sitcom ‘Chips’. It reveals the macho misogynist attitude of men against women, in a pregnant way.

Junk Punk Funk!
Martha Colburn
"My personality keeps coming out in my work: dark humor mixed with a bit of punk mixed with dirt and sex and smoking-- all the things people enjoy but are taboo. Things that delight my sense of humor." Martha Colburn
Martha Colburn corrupt collage animator, chaos poet, and music/filmmaker from Baltimore produces perversely pleasurable 16mm films alongside some 'scopitones' (1960s precursors to the music video, originally shown on what were similar to jukeboxes). Her work - which pokes fun at Americana pop culture - has been featured at The New York Museum of Modern Art, as well as many notable underground film festivals. Female spiders, feet, anxiety, asthma, alcohol, shark attacks, striptease and cholesterol are just some of the themes.

De Todo La Vida: All Our Lives
(52 min, spanish with english subtitels)
This documentary chronicles the life of the anarchist-feminist organisation Mujeres Libres (Free Women) during the Spanish Revolution (1936-39). It includes interviews with numerous former members where they discuss revolutionary Spain and the involvement of women in the war, their relationship to the other anarchist organisations at the time, and their life since. Decades later the Mujeres Lebres organisation still remains a model for revolutionary feminist theory and action. Spanish, with English subtitles.

Hot And Bothered: Feminist Pornography
Becky Goldberg (USA, 2002, 38 min)
Take a rare and empowering look into the pornography industry and feminist community to see how they intertwine within the politics and poetics of female sexuality. Becky Goldberg is a documentary filmmaker and editor living in New York and is originally from Nebraska. Hot and Bothered is her first Pornography. Either you love it or you hate it, you use it or you don't. No matter how you look at it, pornography is here to stay. Feminism, on the other hand, has been going in and out of style for decades and it can carry just as many polarized views that pornography can. But what happens when you bring the two together; some say oppression others say sexual expression. Within the pornography industry, female actresses, directors, and producers are coming out, saying that their feminism, in fact, informs the pornography they make and the ability for their work to help women become sexually empowered - both on screen and in the privacy of their living rooms. Who better to claim the adult industry for themselves, than the women it revolves around. Hot and Bothered is a 60 minute documentary that looks at both worlds -- pornography and feminism - with the goal of exploring and revealing the current state of sexual identity especially for women.

12.00-14.00 workshop at vrankrijk
Consequence: Beyond Resisting Rape
takes participants on a journey from victimization to empowerment, incorporating the work of local rape crisis centers, self defense instructors, spoken word artists, and musicians. The program begins with a screening of War Zone, a film documenting sexual harassment on the streets across America. It moves on to a consciousness-raising discussion about the phenomenon of violence against women, springboarding off the daily dynamic witnessed in the video screening. Participants then get into their bodies and learn basic self defense moves to combat harassment and other forms of assault. Instructors offer what is for many the first active encouragement to be physically powerful. Once participants are energized by this exercise, they are treated to a spoken word performance by artists fighting violence against women in its many different forms. Following this performance, Loolwa Khazzoom does a spoken word performance of her own, with excerpts from Consequence: Beyond Resisting Rape, accompanied by live music. The program ends with a question/answer session and general discussion about pushing the envelopes of response to sexual harassment.

Simplicities and complexities of playing:how a very simple song can touch souls and how a difficult guitar riff can be beautiful and equally as motivating as a simple song (we will show examples of songs). The challenge of wanting to learn more and not making a routine of using little chords. The need for consistent practice. Space for practice, questions, etc.(space to work with the people taking part in the workshop).

Alles Wird Good (Everything Will Be Fine)
Angelina Maccarone (Germany, 1997, 90 min)
With all the classic features of the genre romantic infatuation, mistaken identity, and climactic mayhem Everything Will Be Fine is a lesbian romantic comedy with a real kick. When Nabou is dumped by her girlfriend Katja, she is not about to give up without a fight. While obsessively staking out her ex's apartment, Nabou mistakenly ends up in the apartment downstairs and is subsequently taken on as a house cleaner by Kim, a successful ad executive unsure of her own life decisions. As Nabou gets increasingly caught up in Kim's life, both find their own romantic intentions becoming confused.
Underlying the film's whimsical and sexy exterior is the compelling story of its Afro-German heroines' pursuit of love and fulfillment in the face of everyday racism.

14.00-16.00 discussion at vrankrijk: DolleMina herstory
Dolle Mina, second wave radical feminist thinking & action
Feminist thinking and action had a rich history. A history we can learn from, a history in wich we can admire strong women doing brave things, a history which can inspire us. Second wave feminism put a lot of issues on the political agenda which are still actual toppics now a days; sexual violence, beauty standards, division of labour, unequal respect for which is seen female and which is seen male. Still there is not a lot of discussion between second wave feminists and new feminist groups/initiatives of the last 10 years.
Dolle Mina was a group of young girls and women in the seventies, who wanted to show their anger and wanted to discuss feminist toppics in the public. They did a lot of direct actions, disrupted a lot of rusted ideas about womenhood and they were loud. A lot of these women are still active within feminism. We invited two Dolle Mina’s: Petra de Vries and Saskia Poldervaart, both are now teachers of womenstudies at the University of Amsterdam.
First we will give a little herstory lesson. Show some video’s on Dolle Mina actions, pictures and leaflets. And ofcourse the stories of the ones who were there. Secondly we want to discuss how we can use this knowledge of the past, in feminist action and thinking nowdays. What did work, what didn’t, how do the ‘old’ Dolle Mina’s reflect on their action now. Critical questions, principal questions, practical questions, tactical, stragetical questions, all is possible. We want communication between two generations of feminism!

16.00-18.00 workshop/discussion at vrankrijk

In the same time the city council doesn't provide public toilets for women - and if you are in need you have to go to cafe or restaurant while men are peeing in so called pissuars, that you can find in the city centre. since it's not always comfortable or possible to squat and pee, we thought of little device: peemiss, for every women to make and use. on the video you will see guide how to make your own, demonstration and attempts of finding out by police (who is giving out fines...) about the prices and if the fines still are higher for women.

Tampon Manual
Seong Saeron (South Korea, 14 min)
A charming yet bold statement presented as product instructions, this film promotes the advantage of tampons over menstrual sanitary pads for its value as a masturbation tool.
Äußerst witzige Umsetzung der Kreativität im Umgang mit einer der besten Erfindungen des letzten Jahrhunderts - vielleicht deshalb, weil dieser Aufklärungsfilm aus Korea eigentlich absolut ernst gemeint ist...

The Day I Will Never Forget
Kim Longinotto (UK, 2002, 92 min)
When she was barely 8, Fouzia Hassan was pinned down on her living room floor by two local women in her western Kenyan hometown of Eldoret. They tied her legs, clamped her mouth and sat on her chest to prevent the frail schoolgirl from thrashing around, as a third woman circumcised her with a razor blade.
A 92-minute film documenting the experiences of a number of women and girls, including Fouzia, who have been circumcised, The Day I Will Never Forget has been making the rounds on the international film festival circuit, picking up rave reviews and awards along the way.

21.05 performance Bridge Markland
"The most beautiful woman in the world"
the Berlin dance-theatre-performance-artist is a virtuoso of roleplay and quick-change. A chameleon which throws herself into many extremes, but isn't merely limited to one of them.
She is an artist who effortlessly crosses all boundaries between sub- and high-culture, dance, theatre, performance, comedy and erotic-art.
Her speciality is transgender-performance in which the audience can experience the change of woman to man (or vice versa), life on stage.
There is an erotic aura around her in all roles and genders. She has female and male sex-appeal far away from hetero- or homosexual limits and all inscribed identities.
Other focuses are: writing, readings, grotesque-dance, dance-improvisation, audience intervention, silent-movie characters and biographical performances.
For many years she has been a thrill to her audiences performing on many national and international stages.

23.30 Gertrude eclectic post punk orchestra.
Coming from London's underground artsy/squat scene. Formed in 1997 as a collective from the outset, the bands commitment to radical ways of organising and managing themselves was realised musically by the rhythmical interplay between different band members and by having three main vocalists who weave in and out of multi layered songs.
Gertrude was created to stick two fingers up at the narcissistic macho rock posturing that popular culture romances with, and just as importantly, to write sophisicated agitated music.

Women On Waves
The activist will talk about their recent trip to poland on 21/06/03 - 04/07/03,  previous actions, the organisation self , with discussion about women's rights worldwide.
Women on Waves is a non-profit organization concerned with women's human rights. Its mission is to prevent unwanted pregnancy and unsafe abortions throughout the world.
Every year 20 million abortions are performed under illegal and unsafe conditions, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 70,000 women annually. In response to this medical calamity, Women on Waves has developed a mobile gynecological unit, the 'A-portable'. It can easily be loaded onto a ship, which enables it to travel to wherever it is needed worldwide. The 'A-Portable' can also travel by truck allowing it to go to countries where reproductive health services are legal but largely unavailable, for example due to war.
With a ship Women on Waves can provide contraceptives, information, training, workshops, and safe and legal abortion outside territorial waters in countries where abortion is illegal. Working in close cooperation with local organizations, Women on Waves wants to respond to an urgent medical need, empower women to exercise their human right to reproductive health and legal, safe abortion and draw public attention to the consequences of unwanted pregnancy and illegal abortion.

I´m not a feminist but...
Marjut Rimminen (UK, 1998, 8 min)
Marjut Rimminen is the internationally best-known Finnish animator. This is the first animated film she directed in England. This hilarious film is dynamic and well structured and it is based on a well-known book by Christine Roche. In this magnificent piece of animation women certainly are in the spotlight on both sides of the celluloid.
Tampere Film Festival, March 1998: Rimminen’s feminism has a playful and ironic element to it, her films show just how possible it is to combine critical cinema and entertainment.
Zapatista Women
Abraham Guillen Press (1995, 30 min, spanish with english subtitels)
This is an excellent introduction to the Zapatistas...Zapatista Women is about the indigenous women soldiers of the EZLN. It includes interviews with several insurgents where they tell about the conditions that indigenous women live in, how the came to be in the EZLN, and the type of world they are fighting for.

Runaway
Kim Longinotto & Ziba Mir-Hosseini (UK, 2001, 87 min)
"Runaway" documents the experiences of young women living in a runaway shelter in Iran. Focusing on the sisterly bonds between the girls and the importance of friendship under adversity, this moving film broadens our understanding of Islamic girls’ lives in modern-day Iran and their relationship with their families. Though some of the stories may be difficult for younger viewers, their courage to hope and dream for a better future is an inspiring testament to the endurance of the human spirit.

Linus is a London-based band with two American gals and two British guys; Tammy (sings), Deb (bass), Andy R (guitar), and Andy W (drums). They’ve been around for over 10 years, and have quite a history. Their early contemporaries were Huggy Bear, the Voodoo Queens, etc, and were founding members of the London riot grrl scene.

22.25 performance t.turner:
the question is always: is your body wearable?
music, performance, videoclips - t.turner will present a life full of music.

22.50 SM Gorilla - minimal electro wave

23.30 Broostkrew - We started, first with brustkrebs by covering deutsch punk songs that had somehow weird -or very"normal"- look onto sexuality and gender - with more keyboards, more bass, more coldness. After the nuclear winter tour feb.02 everything started to change again. We modulated our name into Broost krew and had a vision of POP-TUMOR. We started searching for it and what we found is a new show with electric-rap sounds, video-loops and life-surgery.
